Imphal, May 20 (MExN): The new office of the Zeliangrong Football Association (ZFA) was inaugurated on May 19 at the Zeliangrong Building, Kahulong, Paona Bazar, Imphal by Dinganglung (Dipu) Gangmei, Chairman of the Hill Area Committee (HAC) and MLA of 54-Nungba Assembly Constituency, Manipur.
Among others, Athai Kamei, Acting President of the Zeliangrong Union (AMN), and Aguilung Gangmei, President of the ZFA were present at the inaugural.
Marking the occasion, the ZFA also announced the 14th edition of the Jadonang Memorial Football Tournament, scheduled to be held in October 2025.
The tournament is exclusively open to teams from the Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei (Kabui), and Puimei communities residing in Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland, it added. As per the ZFA, the champion team will receive a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a trophy, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 1 lakh along with a trophy.
Additional awards include Best Disciplined Team and Best March Past/Parade Team (Rs 20,000 each) and Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, and Top Scorer (Rs 10,000 each and cup). Teams can obtain entry forms paying Rs 1000 from the first week of September at the ZFA office, association informed.
The registration fee is for the tournament is Rs 5000.
MLA Dinganglung is the Chairman of the Organising Committee for the upcoming edition of the tournament.
