Zone-IV Pre-Subroto: GHSS Hakushang crowned U-17 Boys Champions; Noklak girls finish unbeaten

Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Hakushang emerged champions in the U-17 boys’ category of the Zone-IV Pre-Subroto International Football Tournament 2026 after defeating PM Shri GHSS Thangjam Tuensang 3-1 in the final played at Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground, Tuensang, on Wednesday.

The tournament, organized by the Department of District Youth Resources & Sports, Tuensang in collaboration with the Tuensang District Football Association (TDFA) under the aegis of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), concluded with an impressive display of young football talent from Tuensang, Noklak, Shamator and Mon districts.

GHSS Hakushang capped off a remarkable campaign with a convincing victory in the title clash after earlier defeating GHSS Shamator in a dramatic semifinal penalty shootout. The semifinal had ended 1-1 after

extra time before Hakushang prevailed 4-1 on penalties.

 

 

PM Shri GHSS Thangjam Tuensang had booked their place in the final with a strong 3-1 win over Langsa Hill Higher Secondary School, Mon, in the first semifinal.

In the girls’ category, Government High School Noklak Village finished as the top team after winning both of their matches in dominant fashion. Noklak defeated GHSS Hakushang 3-0 and later registered a 4-0 victory over Loyem Memorial School to remain unbeaten in the tournament.

GHSS Hakushang girls secured the second spot after defeating Loyem Memorial School 4-0 despite their earlier loss to Noklak, ensuring qualification as one of the top two teams.

The closing ceremony of the tournament was held on Wednesday at Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground. Seotingla, LDA, DYRSO, chaired the programme, while Ajungla, UDA, DYRSO Tuensang, delivered the invocation. The vote of thanks was proposed by District Sports Officer AthrongYimchunger, followed by prize distribution and benediction.

Organizers praised the participating schools for their sportsmanship and competitive spirit, stating that the tournament continues to serve as an important platform for nurturing grassroots football talent in the region.
