
DIMAPUR, MAY 29 (MExN): The Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) celebrateed its 61st anniversary cum Foundation Day on May 27 at town hall, Peren town. The event was attended by several grandees from different organizations including the Nagaland Zeliang Zeople Organisation (NZPO), and Zeliang Officers Associations Nagaland (ZOAN). Additional Deputy Commissioner Peren, Keyirangding Hegui (NCS) graced the event as a guest speaker.
The welcome speech was delivered by ZLSU President, Kingsalt Hegwang. After which, Kevipele Iheilung, President of NZPO, and Rezulule Ndang, Deputy Commandant, 9th IR Shaijang and Joint Secretary of ZOAN delievered short speeches on behalf of each union, followed by a special song presented by Kenlumyile.
The guest speaker in his address emphasized preserving cultural identity and said that “our stance of identity as ‘Zeliang’ should be vividly clear and be proud of and should not be swayed away by confusion.” He encouraged the students to strive and ace in their academics and pursue professionality as the community requires more professionals, such as officers, doctors, engineers, etc.
Sanlakbo Namdaw, ZLSU General Secretary, in his concluding remarks thanked all the dignitaries present; Peren town youth for volunteering by sacrificing their time and energy and making the event a well-timed and trouble-free event; all the contributors who contributed magnanimously on the crowdfunding which was specially organized for the 61st anniversary celebration, and all other contributers and supporters.
The event concluded with words of prayer and blessing from Pastor Amos Ngamta Pastor, Liangmai Baptish Church Phumlin, and Pastor Haiku Nza, Peren Town Baptist Church. Namgwangheile Nsarangbe, Women coordinator ZLSU compered the event.
