Zunheboto, February 8 (MExN): Awareness and sensitization workshop on COVID-19 vaccination for frontline workers of Zunheboto district for District Administration, DEF and 14th IR was conducted on February 8 at their respective offices.
Dr K Akaho Sema, Chief Medical Officer, Zunheboto appealed to all participants to come forward and get vaccinated and not miss the opportunity, he further requested all the concerned department officials to encourage all their staffs to get vaccinated and not to believe in the misconceptions about the vaccine from the social media.
He also gave detailed explanation on the Covishield vaccine and how the doses are administered. He also appealed to all the participants to get vaccinated in order to stay safe and to protect oneself, family and neighbours, citing that frontline workers are in the high risk exposure.
Dr Nukshisangla Jamir DPO (RCH/UIP) gave a brief introduction on Coronavirus, Symptoms, Modes of Transmission, prevention she also spoke on the vaccine that is approved in India. She spoke on the importance of achieving herd immunity saying that it is a condition acquired when most of the population becomes immune to an infectious disease which then prevents the spread of the disease and in order to achieve herd immunity. She also requested all the frontline workers to get registered in the Cowin portal if they have not registered. DPO also gave a detailed report on the number of healthcare workers in Nagaland who have been vaccinated for the first dose so far, and the number of healthcare workers vaccinated in Zunheboto as well.
Renbon, SDO, Zunheboto and Disani Newmai, SDPO, Zunheboto gave welcome address during the awareness and sensitisation programme.
The workshop was followed by interaction and discussion with the Resource Person and the participants, stated a press release issued by Shekho Sophie, District Media Officer, CMO Office Zunheboto.
