Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, IAS, on Thursday called upon Village Development Boards (VDBs) and village functionaries to work collectively towards improving rural livelihoods, creating durable productive assets, and developing model villages across the district.
Speaking as the Special Guest at a district-level 'Panch Sammelan' held at the VDB Hall here, Raj urged local administrators to align village planning with grassroots community needs to build a developed India by 2047.
The workshop was organized to sensitise village functionaries on the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB-G RAM G).
Highlighting the structural shift under the new rural employment framework, the Deputy Commissioner pointed out that the official focus is transitioning from mere wage employment generation toward long-term asset creation and sustainable livelihood development. He noted the revision in wage rates and stressed the necessity of ensuring that statutory interventions deliver tangible economic benefits to rural households.
Addressing VDB Secretaries directly, Raj stated that as primary grassroot representatives directly connected with the public, they carry significant administrative responsibilities and community expectations. He urged them to identify localized village requirements and work toward developing model villages through systematic planning, structured cooperation, and public participation.
Assuring the VDBs of the district administration's full cooperation, Raj stated that grassroots synergy remains essential to achieving the national vision of 'Viksit Bharat'.
The sensitisation programme was chaired by Gloria Phuleshe, CA, VB-G RAM G. Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Zunheboto, N. Kupto Sema, delivered the introductory and welcome address, while DRDA Project Officer Obed Achumi detailed the core concepts and operational parameters of the VB-G RAM G Act.
The session concluded with an open interactive discussion, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by DRDA Assistant Engineer Er David Achumi.
