The Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) team from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, conducted a special Aadhaar enrolment and update drive under the SAATHI (Identity & Dignity) Scheme 2025. The event was held on November 24, at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Zunheboto, and was offered free of cost to the public.
According to the DLSA, the drive aimed to ensure that all residents children, adults, and senior citizens had access to Aadhaar enrolment and correction services, thereby enabling legal identity and facilitating access to various government welfare, health, and education schemes.
Easter H Yepthomi, Retainer Lawyer, Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority, spoke to the media and explained the importance of the drive. “This initiative is particularly for individuals under 18 years of age, enabling them to avail themselves of various services.

Zunheboto is the final district in this series of drives, which have already been organized in several other districts. Although the UIDAI charges a fee for enrolment, we are fortunate to be able to offer the service at a subsidized rate, with the ZLSA covering the costs to make these services accessible to the public.”
She further emphasized that the priority of the drive was to serve children and elderly people. “This event will be held for just one day, and we hope to accommodate as many people as possible. If demand exceeds the available time, we will consider organizing similar drives in the future,” Yepthomi added.
Yepthomi also informed the efforts are underway to establish a permanent Aadhaar center at the Zunheboto court building. “This will be a significant improvement for the general public, as there is currently only one Aadhaar center in the town. People often travel from outstation to access these services, resulting in long queues. A new center will greatly ease the burden on residents and ensure more efficient service delivery.”
L. Chinglem Konyak, EAC Zunheboto and Nodal Officer for Aadhaar, also addressed the media, stating, “We will try to extend the registration process to accommodate everyone, even if it means staying beyond the scheduled time. However, beneficiary registrations will officially stop at 2:00 pm. We will do our best to ensure that no one is turned away.”
