Zunheboto DPDB approves grant-in-aid to schools

Zunheboto, October 8 (MExN): The Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) has reportedly agreed to give grant-in-aid to schools including Step By Step School, Olympic Higher Secondary School, Bloomfield School, New Era School and Eden School.

A DIPR report stated that the DPDB meeting held at DC Conference Hall on October 8 was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peter Lichamo and attended by Zunheboto DPDB chairman, KT Sukhalu, Advisor School Education.

Besides the agenda of grant-in-aid to schools, the house also discussed the proposal to upgrade two schools under Zunheboto district to Government higher secondary schools. The Advisor gave assurance to look into it and do the needful, the report stated.

Advisor Sukhalu applauded the medical team and district task force led by the DC in containing COVID-19 in the district.
However, adding that the pandemic is ‘far from over’, the Advisor emphasized on making the use of face masks and washing hands all the time a daily routine.

He also added that there is a need for more TrueNat centers in Zunheboto and said that he has spoken to higher authorities for the same.

He further asked the HODs to make the various government schemes and projects, both new and old, known to the general public as majority of the people remain ignorant about the schemes and projects.

He also asked the NSDMA department not to keep the files pending but send the cases to the directorate sooner, as due to excess rainfall there has been many cases of natural calamities due to which the people are suffering.

The advisor also appealed to the field officers to encourage the villagers to send their children to government schools as there are highly qualified teachers in government schools but if there is no enrollment in the schools, then the government has no option but to close down the schools.
