Zunheboto, September 16 (MExN): Advisor K Tokugha Sukhalu expressed serious concern over the large-scale absence of Heads of Offices (HoOs) from Zunheboto district, calling for greater administrative presence and accountability.
Addressing the Zunheboto District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting on September 16, Sukhalu stressed that people should not suffer due to the shortage or absence of government officers.
The meeting also raised concerns over alleged instances of government employees receiving double salaries. It was informed that Special Investigation Teams (SITs) had been constituted at the State level, with further measures expected in the matter.
Sukhalu, who is Zunheboto DPDB Chairman, Sukhalu stressed that government schemes and programmes must reach villages and benefit people at the grassroots level as well as ensuring that the district’s young population benefits from government opportunities and facilities.
He also highlighted on the State Government’s efforts to secure support from the Centre for the development of the State and appreciated Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio’s leadership.
The Advisor further underlined the importance of educating and empowering people to enable them to realise their full potential.
Meanwhile, on pension-related matters, Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj stated that he would not sign pension documents unless the concerned individual appeared in person, adding that substitutes would not be accepted.
He said the decision had attracted criticism on social media but maintained that the facts would eventually come to light, the State DIPR reported.
Sukhalu, meanwhile, said criticism is an integral part of democracy.
