Experiencing the highest participation of the RockAware contest, 100 bands have confirmed their participation from across the state for the premier RockAware, A Red Ribbon Super Star Campaign. The concert will highlight and create awareness about HIV/AIDS and also provide platform for the musicians of the state to showcase their talent, and is being organized under the central theme for the music campaign “AIDS is our problem, We Care”.
Addressing a press conference this morning at Dream Café, Event coordinator Theja Meru and his team, Ayieno, Deputy Director NSACS and Thenanuo Assistant director, Publicity & Documentation also announced that Grammy Award Winner Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt will grace the grand finale of the RockAware on October 15 at DDSC Stadium Dimapur where he will also perform live and it is also anticipated that he may share the stage with a Naga band, though the band is yet to be selected.
The organizers said they are excited to see the participation of about 400 musicians out of 97 bands and are anticipating successful competition. The audition will kick start at Kohima, tomorrow, September 10, where 15 bands will take part in the audition at Heritage Kohima at 4:00 pm. MLA & Advisor MTF, Dr. Nicky Kire wil grace the occasion as the chief guest while RockAware Brand Ambassador, Renbeni Odyuo will also perform special number. The next audition after Kohima will be at Phek on September 13.
