Dimapur, November 14 (MExN): A book titled ‘3C SOS – The Final Answer’ authored by Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema was released by Meghalaya Chief Minister and National President, National People’s Party (NPP) Conrad K Sangma in Shillong on November 14.
Speaking on the occasion, Sangma expressed happiness and satisfaction that such a book on education was perfectly timed with the transition of education system from the traditional to the modern, especially in the context of the State of Meghalaya. According to him, Meghalaya was already planning to overhaul its education system in the same model as enshrined in Dr Ahoto’s book whereby there will be a paradigm shift from rote learning and bookish education to skill and value based education, a press release informed.
He also highlighted how a revolution in the Indian education system with a drastic change in curriculum can help in the development of youths and that in the absence of such a modern curriculum, the future of our society is bleak and would be destroyed from the core. He also expressed the intention of the Meghalaya Government in making the state a model state in educational reforms for which Dr Ahoto’s book could help profoundly as an important guiding factor.
According to the release, ‘3C SOS – The Final Answer’ is a non-fiction illustrative and informative book which is in its final stage of publication and will hit the stands on December 1, 2020 coinciding with the Nagaland Statehood Day. It covers the adventurous journey of the author to Mt Everest in Nepal and also seeks to bring about a wide-scale transformation in not only education but also in environmental concerns throughout the country and even beyond, while at the same time shedding valuable insights into the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The release stated that the book would open up a new horizon of revolution in the society and the educational curriculum of our country can be transformed for the benefit of our generation without giving it any political or partisan color. SOS is the key acronym for distress and an emergency reaction to the effects of the 3 Cs representing Climate Change, COVID-19 and Curriculum. The author feels that the book will serve as a final answer to many of the pressing questions of the present world, it said.
The cover of the book was earlier released on August 15 by K Tokugha Sukhalu, Advisor, School Education, Government of Nagaland at Dimapur, it added.
The book is an attempt at documenting the author’s experiences during his participation along with his youngest son, 12-year-old Aaron Akivito Sema, in the Mt Everest Fashion Runway event which was held atop the Mt Everest on January 26. The event registered an all new Guinness World Record as the world’s highest fashion show for climate change and was attended by more than 18 professional supermodels from across the world to voice out their concerns on the environmental degradation.
The book also emphasizes on climate change and global warming while at the same time seeks governmental intervention at bringing about a comprehensive transformation in the curriculum framework of schools as well as colleges. The ultimate motive of this book is to suggest a universal fail-safe mechanism of education system which will incorporate skills, entrepreneurial mindset and environmental awareness.
Meanwhile, Dr Ahoto expressed his gratitude to all the people behind the successful completion and release of the book including the publishers of the book, his family, friends and well-wishers who had constantly guided and motivated him throughout the writing, editing and publication of the book, the release stated.
