41,835 vaccine doses administered in Nagaland

KOHIMA, MARCH 5 (MExN): 41,835 doses of the COVISHIELD vaccine have been administered in Nagaland as of March 5. 

A press release from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare informed that 800 senior citizens and 82 beneficiaries with specified co-morbidities between the ages of 45-59 have been successfully vaccinated without any adverse events needing medical intervention. 

Meanwhile, a total of 24,486 frontline workers have also been vaccinated. Further 10,492 healthcare workers have received their first dose of the vaccine while 5,975 healthcare workers have received their second doses. 

Vaccination will continue for the citizens across all notified COVID-19 vaccination centres. 

Dimapur continues to lead with the most number of vaccine doses administered with 13,240, followed by Kohima (8,563), Mokokchung (3,921), Mon (2,907), Phek (2,785), Zunheboto (2,386), Tuensang (2,348), Wokha (1,788), Peren (1,637), Kiphire (1,226), and Longleng (1,034). 

The Health Department stated that the pandemic is expected to “go on for years” and with the increase in COVID-19 variants and mutations, there is an urgency to vaccinate the citizens as early as possible. 

Nationally, over 1.8 crore doses of the COVISHIELD and COVAXIN vaccines have been administered across the country. All eligible beneficiaries can register through cowin.gov.in or use the Arogya Setu App or avail onsite registration at the session sites. Registration is mandatory to get a vaccine.
