DGP K. Kire takes the salute as the contingent march out during the passing out parade on Friday, December 16 at NPTS, Chumukedima. Principal, NPTS Narola Sophie is also seen.
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 16 (MExN): A total of 438 police trainee (constables) passed out from Nagaland Police Training School (NPTS), Chumukedima. It comprised of the ‘59th Batch Constables Basic Trainees of District Executive Force, IG Intelligence, Jail Warders and State Vigilance Commission’.
The ceremonial attestation parade was held on Friday, December 16 at NPTS Parade Ground with the Director General of Police, K. Kire gracing the occasion as the chief guest. The DGP opening his address remarked that as the trainees pass out, the importance of the NPTS faculty also cannot be left unnoticed. Stating that the faculty has been working so hard all these years, the DGP went on to remind, the instructors in particular, that what they have taught today will remain with the trainees throughout their lives.
To the trainees, he said: “From now onwards, you’re a full-fledged police officer. As you go on in life do not let go in vain this training.” Stating that the job of a police officer is not that difficult as is the common belief, he added that it is only a matter of always keeping in mind one line - that is, “We are there for the citizens,” while remaining disciplined and obeying one’s superiors.
Reminding the trainees to ever bear in mind the oath of allegiance for a greater good, he said that the good deeds of an entire force can get tarnished even at the slightest instance of an officer going astray.
And as police officers owing allegiance to the service of the people, one has to be prepared even to the extent of sacrificing one’s life. “We’ve lost friends” while in the line of duty. “But they haven’t died in vain… there can be no greater deed than this,” said the DGP. He further urged upon the parents and relatives of the uniformed personnel to guide them and help them maintain discipline.
Out of the total of 438, 357 will join the respective DEFs, 62 will join the IG Intelligence, 15 as jail warders, while 4 will join the State Vigilance commission. It included 28 women.
