The Mongsenyimti Senso Tamang Telongjem (MSTT), Mokokchung Town, marked its Golden Jubilee celebration on October 2 at WATEM, Mokokchung, under the theme “Nüji Tia Sangdongang” — meaning “Proclaim Liberty” — based on Leviticus 25:10.
Tongpang Ozüküm, Advisor for Water Resources, Government of Nagaland, graced the occasion as the special guest and unveiled the Golden Jubilee souvenir. In his address, Ozüküm remarked that the milestone represents “50 years of sacrifice, belief, and faith in God,” and “50 years of God’s blessings.” Paying tribute to the founding leaders, he commended their role in fostering unity among the villages during times of conflict and disunity.
He further urged the gathering to continue praying for the youth, observing that many are increasingly absorbed in technological advancements. Looking ahead to the 75th Jubilee, he reflected that the souvenir serves as a record of people’s good deeds and contributions, encouraging everyone to work for the betterment of society so that “their names may be inscribed in the 75th Jubilee souvenir.”
Dr Menjiwapong, Associate Professor at Eastern Theological College, Jorhat, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness in the spirit of Jubilee. Drawing from the theme, he explained that being one in faith also means being free and equal, and he called on the audience to treat all people with respect regardless of social or economic standing.
Describing the Jubilee as a “reset button,” Dr Menjiwapong said that while resetting is not easy, it offers an opportunity to return to the foundations of faith. He spoke about the modern struggles against “invisible rivalries” such as economic, intellectual, and ideological divides, underscoring the need to prioritize spiritual quotient over emotional and intelligence quotients. He concluded his address by posing a reflective question: whether people will let the philosophy of culture guide them or allow God to lead them.
Earlier in the program, M. Alemla Jamir, President of MSTT Mokokchung, welcomed the congregation, while former President L. Amenla Longkumer paid tribute to departed members. Y. Imlimatsüng Ozüküm, President of Mongsenyimti Senso Telongjem, Mokokchung, delivered the exhortation.
The Golden Jubilee celebration featured various activities and performances highlighting the union’s journey over the past five decades. The gathering also adopted resolutions of thanksgiving and renewed commitments to work faithfully for the good of society and the glory of God.
