Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): For the first time since its inception in 1969, Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Singrijan finally has a boundary fence, thanks to the Singrijan and Khopanala village councils who donated bamboos for the fence.
According to the school authority, it was a milestone in the history of the school, as no initiative or work had been undertaken in the past for demarcating the school boundaries. Due to lack of financial aid or help, there were no boundary walls in the school campus till date which had led to encroachment, destruction of school property, theft and disturbances in the school campus by anti social elements in the past.
Initiated by the Principal, school staff and the Singrijan and Khopanala village councils, a social work was undertaken on March 18 at GHSS Singrijan. With the help of the school’s teaching and non-teaching staff and volunteers from the village community, the temporary bamboo fencing on all sides of the school’s boundary was built.
Principal of the school, Aienla Longkumer thanked Head GB Tezu Pradhan who is also member of School Management Development Board and the Singrijan/Khopanala village councils for helping the school. She also thanked the school staff for their active participation and co-operation and expressed hope that this initiative for the school will go a long way in its development and upliftment.
She also appealed to the department concerned to lend a helping hand for the school to take up such initiatives in the days to come.
