Beneficiaries received vaccinated chicks under an SBI Gram Seva Programme implemented by AIDA Dimapur.

Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): A total of 570 vaccinated Kuroiler chicks and 60 vaccinated Broiler chicks were distributed were distributed under SBI Gram Seva Programme implemented by Anma Integrated Development Association (AIDA), Dimapur recently.
The chicks were distributed to 21 beneficiaries (30 each) in four adopted villages - Khriezephe, Urra, Tsithrongse and Diezephe, under the programme, a press release informed.
“Free distribution of chicks to the widows, elderly and the unemployed youths of the village has helped to supplement generating livelihood income in the shortest possible time,” it said.
The distribution was graced by the Project Manager John Pfokho and Khino, the livelihood officer.
The initiative by the SBI Foundation through AIDA addresses the immediate needs of the people of the rural settings in self-reliance, the release said.
Backyard poultry farming uplifts the livelihood income of the family as it is simple in operation, and has better adaptability, survivability, low input cost and ensures availability of meat required for special festivals and traditional ceremonies, it maintained.
It can reduce import of meat and increase growth in the economy of the family and it is an eco-friendly approach with no harmful residue in meat, it added.
SBI Gram Seva-AIDA, under Livestock Development programme for backyard poultry farming envisions to uplift the status of beneficiaries on their socio-economic field and also is a means to boost and empower them towards a business mentality and career, the release added.
