To wait for outcome of meetings between KU and 9 Konyak legislators on February 2 and 4
Aboi, January 30 (MExN): The Aboi District HQ Demand Committee (ADDC) has temporarily decided to “lift the indefinite bandh” from January 30 after a thorough deliberation on a letter issued by the Konyak Union (Apex Body).
As per a press release from ADDC, the KU led by its Vice President, Honang Konyak and General Secretary, Wango Konyak along with the Advisory Board Konyak Union had a meeting with the ADDC on January 28 and they had requested in a letter to the Konyak Union Aboi Unit to “lift the indefinite bandh of Aboi District HQ Demand” relying on the meeting to be held with 9 Konyak legislators on February 2 and 4 on “Upgradation of ADC Aboi to DC Aboi.”
The same letter was forwarded to the ADDC by the KU Aboi Unit, which the committee had deliberately discussed in the consultative meeting and came to an understanding to “temporarily lift the bandh from January 30 at ADDC Chamber,” it said.
Further, the ADDC officio and the Aboi public have also decided that the committee wait for outcome of the February 2 and 4 meeting between the KU and the nine legislators and its “movement shall depend on the decision taken,” it added.
In the meeting, the ADDC also appealed to the Nagas in general and Konyak in particular, to support for the cause of Aboi District HQ Demand as it is for the up-gradation and upliftment of our people who are deprived till date, the release said.
The ADDC further informed that its district’s demand is the “peoples’ movement and shall not draw back until the Government of Nagaland declares Aboi into a fully-fledged district.”
The ADDC heeded upon the request of KU and 9 Konyak Elected Members and pray that the Government of Nagaland “will wisely ponder upon and make decision for early declaration of Aboi District HQ Demand as the matter is genuine & a long pending issue of the state which is known to all,” it said.
The ADDC also expressed optimism that the KU and 9 Konyak legislator “will declare Aboi District HQ without any hesitation in the final meetings” on February 2 and 4.
