Members of Aboi-based organisations under Mon district submit memorandum to Nagaland Chief Minister via proper channel demanding fair survey of NH-702 alignments.
KOHIMA, November 24 (MExN): Several Aboi-based organisations under Mon district have petitioned the Nagaland Chief Minister, expressing concern over the ongoing survey of NH-702 (Mon–Aboi–Longleng Road), which they say has been conducted selectively.
In a memorandum submitted to the CM, representatives of the Konyak Union (KU) Aboi Unit, the Aboi Area Students’ Union (AASU) and Aboi Town Students’ Union (ATSU) stated that the survey team, constituted by the Deputy Chief Minister, verified only Option-1 alignment on November 4, 2025, while ignoring Option-2 and Option-3.
The organisations said they had issued a seven-day notice to the authorities for re-verification of all alignments but received no response.
Accordingly, stating that the “continuation of the survey in this manner may lead to unavoidable public unrest,” the Aboi-based organisations appealed the Chief Minister office to intervene immediately and direct the concerned authorities to conduct the survey fairly on option 2 and option 3 as well.
The memorandum highlighted the historical and administrative context of NH-702-B. Originally, the highway was planned to run from Tuensang to Longleng, but the route was redirected during the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly session in March 2015.
In February 2019, nine MLAs representing Konyak areas, along with officials from KU and the district administration, jointly resolved to adopt Option-3, which included an alternative route from Sowa Changle to Longching, reflecting local demands and ground realities.
The alignment was further verified and reaffirmed through multiple joint inspections in May 2025 and August 2025, involving engineers, administration officials, and local representatives.
A high-level meeting chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister in August 2025 concluded with a “win-win” decision endorsing Option-3, underscoring broad consensus on this alignment, it added.
