The closing programme of the Adult Literacy Campaign was held at Tsungiki village on August 8. The campaign was initiated by the Wokha District Administration, Department of Social Welfare, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) under Mission Shakti (Beti Bachao Beti Padhao), in collaboration with NSRLM and PRI-CPO Chukitong Block.
The programme was chaired by Lily Humtsoe, CCRP PRI-CPO, while the welcome address was delivered by the VDB Secretary of Tsungiki Village on behalf of the Village Council.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the District Administration, EAC Sangmou Khiamniungan expressed happiness over the progress achieved through the campaign. He noted that basic literacy “opens many doors” and highlighted the Administration’s special interest in the initiative, which aims to provide literacy to every illiterate citizen in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the SDEO congratulated the learners for successfully completing the programme and remarked that they were fortunate to avail such an opportunity.
DPO, Department of Social Welfare, acknowledged the contributions of various stakeholders, emphasising that literacy would help individuals become independent while accessing government schemes. He also congratulated the learners for their dedication over the three-month campaign and shared insights on DHEW and Mission Shakti.
The NSRLM Block Programme Manager recounted how the campaign was initiated and extended gratitude to the Zukhumki Federation for their tireless efforts.
As part of the programme, learners demonstrated skills acquired during the campaign. Certificates and gifts were distributed to the graduating learners by Chichanthung Ezung, Gender Specialist, DHEW.
