Kohima, February 11 (MExN): The Agricultural Engineering Graduates’ Association of Nagaland (AGEGAN) held its 2nd general conference at Ungma Kiti, Kohima on February 8.

The conference was graced by Er Limasunep Longkumer, Deputy Director, S&WCD and Er Meshenlo Kath, Convenor, CTAN.

In his address, Er Limasunep said that agricultural engineers have a wide scope within the various departments of the government.

However, he cited of the present day, where there were hardly one or two departments accepting agricultural engineers.

Er Limasunep encouraged the unemployed agricultural engineers to venture out into agri-businesses and entrepreneurship mentioning “some very successful progressive farmers and entrepreneurs.”

Er Meshenlo lamented of insufficient posts being advertised due to backdoor appointments and the poor accountability of the departments of the state government.

Considering the situation, he encouraged that such associations were needed to ensure every graduate gets every opportunity to sit for the State Public Service Exams.

The conference saw the election of the new office bearers for the session 2020-22 wherein, Er Nentilo was elected as the new President of AGEGAN along with his council of executives.
