Agri dept holds team meet for development of SAP

Kohima, November 5 (MExN): The department of Agriculture held its co-ordination team meeting for development of Nagaland State Agriculture Portal (SAP) under NeGPA at the directorate conference hall on November 5.
Additional Director of Agriculture-II, S Kivikhu Achumi while addressing on Nagaland State Agriculture Portal (SAP), stated that agriculture Department, Nagaland is committed to provide responsive and effective administration and platform for the welfare of the farmers and farming based community through the Nagaland State Agriculture Portal (SAP).
Agriculture department has visions to create a knowledge-based society through the use of Information Technology, as the department foresees a scenario wherein farmers, business persons and target citizens will be able to access the benefits of information technology through SAP, he added.
SAP is a platform to create and connect to the farmers & Farming Based Community with the businesses across the globe with just a click of a button.
Its ultimate goal is to use IT as a medium to provide for an effective interactive platform for Government to farmer, farmer to Businesses and also Government to citizens, so that exchange of information and access to agriculture services is speedy and easy, leading to a sustainable & progressive farming system for the farmers in the state.
Achumi also stated that through SAP, Agriculture Department was committed to provide for better services to the farmers, businesses, even student and citizens through e-governance which is efficient, speedy, simple and cost-effective.
M/s Ramietech Solutions, Kohima was selected to work for operation and management (O&M) of the state Agri Portal (SAP).
He further added that SAP would play a critical role in providing a single access point to government information and services related to the agricultural sector, eliminating the need to navigate multiple web sites and applications.
SAP would become an interface between the department and farmers and farmers based community and also to attract the buyers across the globe for businesses as this will provide common platform with a single click of a button.
Ramietech members while presenting the Nagaland state Agriculture Portal on System Requirement Specifications (SRC) said that Agriculture department is in need of a robust IT application to enhance its operations and provide value –added services to various stakeholders including farmers.
The department has to align with the national e-governance Plan in Agriculture (NeGPA). The state agri portal will cater to the multifarious needs of various stakeholders including farmers, students government and other stakeholders. The System Requirement Specifications (SRS) was approved today by the department coordination team with the website online nagafarmer.nagaland.gov.in. The programme was chaired by agriculture joint director L Hangshing.
