Agri Dept Phek conducts training on organic farming

Phek, November 20 (MExN): Department of Agriculture, SDAO Chozuba, Phek district conducted training programmes on organic farming practices in cluster areas from November 6 to 7, under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCD-NER) phase-II programme.  

The training was conducted at Chozuba village and Sekruzu RD Training Hall. Keynote address was given by Thepusa Nakro, SDAO Chozuba, who apprised the organic farmers on the benefits of organic farming, dos and don’ts and overview on the implementation of the project during the training.     

EAC Sekruzu graced the occasion and encouraged the farmers about the importance and scope of organic farming in Nagaland and future prospect. He also informed the cardamom growers that the crop is one of the most expensive and valuable spice and encouraged them to grow on large scale for commercial purpose with help from the department.

Resource persons Mhalevilie Thorie, A.I, Chozuba and Manjai Phom, Agriculture Demonstrator, Spice board of India stressed on the topic- Organic farming, production and post harvest technologies of Ginger-Organic approach and production and post harvest technologies of large cardamom. The programme was deemed successful.
