Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister T R Zeliang inaugurated Godrej Agrovet Ltd- One Stop Solution Centre at Jalukie in Peren district on November 27.
“This initiative of Godrej Agrovet is not merely the opening of a new facility; it marks the opening of a new chapter of opportunity, empowerment, and prosperity for our hardworking oil palm farmers across Nagaland,” Zeliang said while inaugurating the centre.
For generations, he said that farmers have been the backbone of the state, contributing immensely to the state’s economy.
“Yet, we also recognize that the journey of an oil palm farmer comes with unique challenges. Accessing high-quality seedlings, obtaining the correct fertilizers, acquiring modern farm implements, or receiving timely technical advice has often been difficult,” he said.
Zeliang said that the absence of scientific support has prevented the farmers from realizing the full potential of their labour and added that ‘this facility has been created as a true one-stop centre, to bring together every crucial requirement of an oil palm farmer under one roof.’
He informed that this centre will cater to every need of the farmers, from finding high-quality oil palm seedlings, specialised fertilizers and crop protection products designed for optimum growth; drip irrigation systems and modern equipment and tools that reduce labour and increase efficiency.
Stating that the true strength of Samadhan goes far beyond products, he said “It lies in the services it brings. The availability of soil and leaf testing, for instance, is a complete game-changer. It transforms farming from guesswork into a precise and scientific practice, ensuring that inputs are used wisely, efficiently, and economically.”
He asserted that this initiative was also a shining example of what a successful Public–Private Partnership looks like, aligning perfectly with the State Government’s vision of revitalising the agricultural sector and working towards doubling farmers’ incomes.
‘It reflects our shared commitment to bringing cutting-edge solutions, scientific expertise, and modern farming practices to the doorsteps of those who feed our State and Nation,’ he said.
Thanking Godrej Agrovet Limited, he said, “Your investment in our farming community is an investment in the long-term development of Nagaland.”
He told the gathering that Jalukie is also one of the fastest-growing towns in the state. Its strategic proximity to Dimapur, the commercial hub of Nagaland, combined with access to the Railway head and Airport, gives this town immense potential to grow into an economic and agro-commercial hub.
He also informed that the ongoing construction of the two-lane National Highway 129A, which will directly connect Maram in Manipur to NH-29 in Dimapur, will further unlock unprecedented opportunities for trade and movement.
