Kohima, May 29 (MExN): The Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP), its constituent wards and sector panchayats have taken measures to address the challenge of suitable home quarantine “as many returnees do not have suitable homes for quarantine, thereby endangering their immediate family members and consequently the public at large.”
The Association in a press release informed that AKMWP, after physical visits and interaction with the families are issuing "A4 paper sized notice that the house is quarantined observation home for 14 days wef (date); where lack of toilet amenities was observed, the colony youths assisted the family in erecting a temporary toilet structure, thus rendering it suitable for home quarantine; in another instance, a family living in tight space, opted to move in with relatives in other areas of the town to allow their child and a caretaker to observe the 14 day home quarantine at their residence.”
AKMWP through Kohima municipal wards initiative, has put in place four home quarantine facilities for those people staying in rented house and not feasible for home quarantine protocol, it informed.
Appeals for support
Taking all such cases into consideration, the AKMWP has appealed to all Kohima town-based well wishers, institutions and other to extend support, especially for providing food and accommodation to an individual for 14 days period.
AKMWP has fervently appealed especially to churches (all denominations) having rest houses and or empty vacant spaces to consider accommodating respective members for home quarantine. “Tribal Hohos, communities, clubs, registered societies, committed bodies and individuals willing to undertake the responsibilities for providing home quarantine facilities may also intimate AKMWP,” it appealed.
