All villages in Wokha district, except one electrified: Survey

Except Ronren village under Wokha block, all other villages in Wokha district have been electrified as on January 31, 2020, according to the survey report on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning 2020, published by Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland.

Wokha district has seven blocks with 133 villages.

The Survey on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning conducted under the Support for Statistical Strengthening scheme during 2019-2020 emphasized on the major basic amenities available covering all the recognized villages of the rural development department.

Two villages-Mithehe under Changpang block and Yanlum under Ralan block receive electricity supply from the neighbouring Assam state government.

All villages in the district are connected by road except Ekhyo village under Wokha block.

The report stated that 10.6 % of the state’s government bus plying in the villages of Wokha district, while 3% of the state’s private bus ply within the district, 33% of the villages in district have access to taxi service.

There is 100% mobile phone service connectivity in the villages of Wokha district and postal service is available to 30.8% of its villages.

11.7% of the state’s Government Primary School, 7.6% of Government Middle School, 9.3% of Government High School and about 6% of Government Higher Secondary School are located in the Wokha district. Out of the state’s total private educational institutions, 6 % are found in the villages under this district.

In terms of medical facility in the district, 27.8% of the villages have Sub-Centre, 6.7% villages have Primary Health Centre and 0.7% of the villages have Community Health Centre. Veterinary Health centre is available to 5.2% of the villages in the district.

Village library facility is available in 3% of the villages in Wokha district, 82% have Village Council hall and 61.6% of the villages have playground.

2.8% of the state’s indoor stadium facility is located in the villages in this district while 33 % of the villages have marketing shed facility.

89.4% of the villages in Wokha district have Anganwadi Centre and 95.4% have Fair Price Shops.

The report stated that PHED water supply is available in 91% of the villages in this district and 50.3% of the villages have access to public toilet.

Bank, ATM booth facility and police station are available in only one village in this district i.e Ralan Old Village.

6.7 % of the villages in this district have Common Service Centre facility while Self Help Group is found in 94.7% of the villages and street light is available in 33% of the villages in Wokha district.
