ANCSU seeks Gov’s intervention on PMS issue

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 29 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has sought the intervention of the Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya on the issue of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for Schedule Tribe students.

A representations addressed to the Governor stated that the students have received only half payment of their PMS for session 2017-18. It reminded that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India has released an amount of Rs.6, 14, 00,000/- as first installment of recurring grant-in-aid (ad hoc grant) under the scheme of PMS to the students belonging to STs for the year 2017-2018.

However, the remaining required amount is yet to be sanctioned by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs even after submission of SIT report to the concerned ministry on November 17, 2018, the ANCSU stated.

Alleging this as step motherly treatment, the ANSCU said this non release of the remaining amount has resulted in “serious threat to the academic career of the students.” It has therefore urged the Governor rescue the students from this ordeal so that the rest of the scholarship fund is released on top priority.
