Kohima, January 13 (MExN): The Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) under St Francis De Sales (SFS) Parish, Kohima Town celebrated its 39th Youth Day at the parish hall in Kohima on January 12.

The 39th ACYA SFS Day began with an invocation prayer by Rev Fr Richard Fernandes, spiritual advisor, ACYA SFS and parish priest.

Unfurling the ACYA flag on the occasion, Menguzelie Adrian, advisor, ACYA SFS congratulated the parish youth on attaining their 39th anniversary and said ACYA Youth Day coincide with the National Youth Day across the country which commemorates the birthday of Swami Vivekananda whose philosophy and ideals are greatly cherished.

He urged the parish youth "to come out with different options and creative thinking and to think out of the box" during his short speech. Adrian correlated "options" with "opportunities and priorities" and said there are many options in life and suggested that youth members need to be creative in their thought process and think out of the box.

Except the post of joint secretary, the last year's ACYA team of office bearers including President Paul Belho and vice-president Aviu Augustine were all renominated for the term 2020 - 2021.

Both Belho and ACYA SFS Augustine expressed their gratitude to the nomination committee for reposing their faith in the executive members.  They asked cooperation and support from their fellow youth members in carrying forward the activities of the ACYA and thereby bringing greater glory to God.

The "youth of the year" awards were conferred to Teresa Belho and Khriezonyü Martin.

Later, an entertaining evening extravaganza was also organised to mark the occasion.
