Animal health camp held at New Chalkot village

Farmers from four villages along with officials after the Animal health camp conducted at New Chalkot village on November 18.

 

Peren, November 19 (MExN): One day Animal Health Camp cum Awareness programme on ‘Importance of deworming and vaccination in livestock and poultry’ was conducted by KVK Peren, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie, in collaboration with College of Veterinary Science, CAU, Jalukie, Peren on November 18 at New Chalkot village. The programme was presided by Dr L Babita Devi, Senior Scientist and Head (i/c), KVK Peren in association with Dr Captain G Dhananjaya Rao, Dean, CVSc, CAU, Jalukie, Z James Kikon, ACTO (S/Sc), KVK Peren and Ngulneh, Chairman, New Chalkot village.


During the inaugural session, Dr Babita briefed about the importance of awareness among the farmers about animal health. Dr Rao appreciated KVK for selecting New Chalkot and surrounding village for the programme as disease prevalence rate was high in the area and told the farmers to avail the facilities and opportunities of Veterinary College, Jalukie as well as KVK Peren. The programme was chaired by Z James Kikon, ACTO (S/Sc). During the technical session, Dr Gunjan Das and Dr Shyamananda Mukherjee delivered lectures on different topics. Altogether 61 farmers from four villages (New Chalkot, Phijol, Saijang and Vongkithem) and 21 officials including veterinary college students attended the function. Mineral mixtures, deworming drugs, antibiotics and other medicines were distributed to the farmers covering a total of 517 livestocks including poultry.
