Dimapur, June 18 (MExN): Youths belonging to Khekiho village are accused of raiding another village in Dimapur, Hazadisa, on June 16, under Dhansiripahar sub-division of Dimapur. Hazadisa village council said in a statement today that Khekiho village youths raided the village around 7:30 PM and assaulted a Village Council Member (VCM), destroyed household materials estimated around 30 lakhs, took away a motorcycle and cash amounting to Rs 60, 000 and even took away cooked meat and fish as well as baby powder food.
According to the statement from the Hazadisa Village Council, around 10-15 youths from Khekiho village under Dhansiripahar sub-division assaulted VCM Manen Langthasa on June 16. Again on June 17 around 30-40 youths came to the village and began attacking Hazadisa villagers and went on a rampage. They plundered the village destroyed household items, took away valuable goods, including a motorcycle, cash. “It’s so shameful that they even took away the cooked meat such as fish and meat and even baby feeds (lactogen),” the council lamented.
The village said that Khekiho village have been encroaching into Hazadisa’s land areas since 1992 and they continue to do so. The Hazadisa villagers have been complaining against these encroachments to the district administration but no action has been taken, the council said.
The village mentioned that Hazadisa village has repeatedly written to Member of Parliament Khekiho Zhimomi seeking settlement of the issue but so far, Zhimomi, former minister of Industries & Commerce, has not responded to the appeals.
