Kohima, November 25 (MExN): The BJP Nagaland Unit has termed the recent spate of attacks against its leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Y Patton as an attempt by NPCC to ‘hog the headlines after all traces of its presence in Nagaland had been whitewashed in the last assembly election.”
The statement came after the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) accused Patton of making a “mockery of Nagas before the eyes of Mizo brethrens” for the latter’s statement that Nagas have accepted BJP.
An accusation as this can be “termed as a personal attack on a leader who has outshone the parochial NPCC leaders,” BJP Nagaland added in the statement.
On the issue of road conditions, the statement claimed that the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) government in Nagaland is doing its best to "amend and initiate what successive governments in the past including the Congress had failed in this sector."
It further mentioned that the PDA government initiated the process of four-lane road, a fulfillment of the announcement made by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during his maiden visit to the State in October, 2003 which was stalled by the Congress-led UPA government at the centre for ten years.
