An appeal to Health & Family Welfare Minister

•-Through this column, I as a concern citizen would like to draw the attention of the Minister of Health and Family welfare (H& FW) of Nagaland. Many doctors in regular government service are still doing private practices even though they are getting non practices allowance. If these doctors cannot fulfill their obligation to the government and the public as responsible government servants, then it will be the best if they voluntarily retire from their government job and devoid their full time to their private practices for one cannot hold a cake at arm’s length and eat it at the same time. These in -service doctors doing private practices should give chances to doctors who yet to get regular government service. There are thousands of Naga doctors even specialist and super specialists who are eager to enter into regular government service but are unable to do so because there is no advertisement of posts. The Government of Nagaland should do away with regularization of these doctors who first get into service as ad -hoc appointment and ultimately get regularize, for even to get ad-hoc appointment one need political backing and most of us thus do not have.
