•-The aftermath of the Aonglenden by election has been little avoidable and exaggerated paper war between opposing party people when the winning and losing candidates have already consigned their fate to the past. It is time for the people to settle down and direct their and energy towards gainful and constructive activities. There are many more elections ahead of us.
According to the reports in the local dailies, one particular instance in the paper war has unfortunately bogged down to personal level between two of our leaders- Imkong Imchen and S.I. Jamir. Going by the reports, Imkong Imchen is hurt by a statement made by S.I. Jamir, consequently pushing the matter a step further. Imkong Imchen has directed a few questions to S.I.Jamir to be replied within a a specified time and with an apology. This is unfortunate not only for them but more for the people.
I do not intent to sit in the judgment seat, but as a senior citizen and having high regards for both of them, I am making this appeal- the matter should not be pushed any further. Let the dust settle down.
It is well understood that the reported statement of S.I. Jamir was made a time when he was intense pressure and perhaps with a touch of emotion. At such a time prudence is often thrown to the winds by all of us and commit errors. If, on the other hand, Imkong Imchen should be satisfied with an apology from S.I. Jamir, I sincerely feel and appeal it should be tendered. Both our leaders will neither gain nor lose anything by it. But this will certainly show to the people how noble and magnanimous our leaders can be.
