•-Through this column, I would liked to appeal to the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), to apply the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) pattern of reservation policy, where candidates from the scheduled tribes, while filling up the examination form, can either choose to compete with the general category or avail the reservation quota and not both of them. Liked wise in Nagaland, the candidates from the so called backward tribes should, while filling up the examination form, for the recently advertised combined technical examination 2011, should either choose to compete with the so called forward tribes or avail the generous reservation policy of the Government of Nagaland and both of them. It has been observed that in recent examinations conducted by various government department, the candidates from the backward tribes even do better in the merit list than the forward tribes and in this way they avail job opportunity from both the open category and the reserved category and the forward tribes are left with lesser job opportunity. The Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) should implement the above said pattern of selection starting from the combined technical examination 2011, so that the reservation quota remain intact and in this way justice is done to both the so called backward tribes and forward tribes. It’s high time the so called advance tribes’ start fighting their rights before it is too late.
