Appeal to Department of School Education for prompt intervention & necessary action

L Tangying Konyak
Student Leader, Mon

In considering the plights of many short staffed schools in general, and my lone village school in particular, I would like to draw the attention of our esteemed authority concern & humbly appeal for urgent intervention & needful action.

Yes, after the last teachers rationalization of 6th February & 10th February vide order No. EDN/PLN/RATIONALIZATION/2023/465 & EDN/PLN/RATIONALIZATION/2023. There was mass resentment from public and thereafter, the department taking into account the public interest. A notification was served Dated Kohima the 17th February 2025 to keep on hold the rationalization order of teachers dated 6th February & 10th February, 2025. Additionally, a notification was served vide  No EDN/ PLN / RATIONALIZATION/2023/248 requesting various stakeholders as Students' union, Village Councils, SMCs, SMDCs to submit representation with genuine grievances in connection to this rationalization for further review.

However, with regret the Department has not come out with review order yet and to confuse and disturb the academic proceeding of the already short staffed schools like ours. some teachers whoever got transfer order under this controversial rationalization at convenient posting places had already transferred to their new postings claiming that they submitted their joining report before 17th February’s notification of holding back the rationalization order till further review while the others who were transferred to far off/ remote places stayed back at their old posting places sticking to the 17th February, 2025 notification.

In our school's case with only 7 teachers to run class from Pre-primary to class 8 wherein 7 teachers mend 9 class rooms daily. Now, one teacher is claiming to have joined new posting without any reliever. The SMCs has approached the DoSE and awaiting the review order.

Therefore, as a concerned citizen of the village and in considering the plight of such many schools ill effected by this delay review order request the authority concern to promptly look into the matter and strengthen the already short staffed schools with appropriate deployment of teachers.
