Dimapur, July 5 (MExN): Assam Rifles organised an interaction programme and medical camp for ex-servicemen and Veer Naris in Noklak district, with around 50 veterans and family members participating in the welfare initiative.
The programme, organised by the Shamator Battalion, provided a platform for ex-servicemen to interact with Assam Rifles personnel, share grievances and avail welfare services, an official statement said.
The officiating commandant and other officers assured participants of all possible assistance during the interaction.

A medical camp offering health check-ups and consultations was organised. Banking assistance, grievance redressal, CSD Smart Card-related services and refreshments were also provided.
During the programme, the application for a CSD Smart Card of Smt Chapon Khiamngam, widow of late Pashen, was processed. The card, received subsequently, was formally handed over to her.
Assam Rifles said the initiative reflected its continued commitment towards the welfare of veterans and Veer Naris by ensuring timely assistance and institutional support.

Students' educational tour
Students of the fourth batch of the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO), Capt (Late) N Kenguruse, MVC Centre of Excellence and Wellness at Chieswema, visited Meghalaya's Cherrapunjee as part of an educational-cum-exposure tour organised by Assam Rifles.
The students visited Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, Thangkharang Park, Eco Park and Elephant Falls during the tour, according to an official statement.

The visit provided first-hand exposure to Meghalaya's natural heritage, geological formations, biodiversity and tourism potential while enhancing the students' understanding of environmental conservation, cultural diversity and the importance of preserving natural heritage.
Assam Rifles said the tour also encouraged curiosity, teamwork and experiential learning beyond the classroom as part of its efforts to empower youth through educational initiatives.
MoS Home visits Mon
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai visited Mon and Lungwa in Nagaland's Mon district to review the security situation along the Indo-Myanmar border and interact with civil administration and community leaders.
Accompanied by senior Assam Rifles officers, Rai visited forward deployments in Mon and Lungwa, where he interacted with troops and commended their professionalism and dedication under challenging border conditions, an official statement said.
He appreciated the role of Assam Rifles in safeguarding the international border and preventing cross-border crimes, including narcotics trafficking, illegal movement and infiltration.

The minister also held discussions with the district administration, legislators, civil society organisations, village authorities and community leaders on strengthening border management, expediting the proposed border fencing project, improving border infrastructure, curbing cross-border illegal activities and promoting the socio-economic development of border villages.
Rai assured stakeholders of the Centre's commitment to national security and the development of border communities, stating that their suggestions would be examined sympathetically.
According to the statement, the visit reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening peace, security and inclusive development in Nagaland's border areas while highlighting the role of Assam Rifles in coordinating with the civil administration and local communities.
The district administration, public representatives and local residents appreciated the force's efforts in maintaining peace, promoting development and fostering mutual trust in the region, it added.
