Dimapur, December 13 (MExN): As part of the ongoing crackdown by Assam Rifles to prevent illegal activities, troops of Assam Rifles seized IMFL amounting Rs 5,00,000 in 4th Mile, Dimapur on November 30. Based on specific information, troops of Assam Rifles raided the warehouse and recovered 126 cases of Beer (Kingfisher), 35 cases of Rum, 7 cases of Whiskey (Officer Choice Blue) and 13 cases of Whisky (Imperial Blue) amounting to Rs 5,00,000. The apprehendees were identified as Suresh Limbu (18 years) resident of 5th Mile, Model village, Dimapur and Kalu Gurung, (31 years) resident of Chekiye village Block-6, Dimapur.
In a separate incident on December 3, Assam Rifles seized IMFL amounting to approx Rs 7,00,000 in general area Doyang. Based on specific information about consignment of IMFL, the troops intercepted a Bolero pick-up bearing registration No AS-05C-3046 carrying 3600 cans of Beer (Kingfisher) and 1440 bottles of Whiskey (Officer Choice) amounting to Rs 7,00,000. The apprehendees were identified as Ekontung Lotha, resident of Orchid Colony, Wokha and Ritul Das, resident of Narayanpur village, Merapani.
The troops further seized cases of IMFL amounting to 7,00,000 in general area Doyang on December 10. Based on specific information about consignment of IMFL, the Assam Rifles launched an operation and intercepted a Bolero pickup bearing registration No AS 23 AC-6437, carrying 47 cases of Beer (Kingfisher), 1 case of Whiskey Signature (180ml) and 149 cases & 2 bottles of Rum Mc Dowells amounting to Rs 7,00,000. One Ravi Kumar Kachari, resident of Church Colony, Wokha District and another Yanbamo Ngullie, resident of Forest Colony, Wokha District along with recovered items were handed over to Wokha police station for further investigation.
