Around 500 benefits from Mini Legal Services Camp

Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): A Mini Legal Services Camp was organized by Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) in collaboration with government departments, stakeholders and NGOs at Government Middle School, Dhansiripar on October 25.
During the inaugural session, Principal District & Sessions Judge and Chairperson Dimapur DLSA Y Longkumer, NJS in her keynote address opined the need to deliver free and competent legal services to the weaker sections of the society. She mentioned the different schemes available for beneficiaries under the legal services authorities. Legal services also act as a service provider to fill the gap between the various schemes and the common people, she pointed out.
The Chairperson also stated that the Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) act as bridge between the society and legal services authorities. Therefore, she urged the PLVs to work in glove with the legal services and also to assist the public in availing various Schemes by different departments under the state government.
Among others, the PD&SJ also sensitized on some important and relevant Acts like the Consumer Rights available to the public and also the compensations under the Motor Vehicles Act, further stressing on the maintenance of divorced woman and to approach the Family Court for any reliefs.
She encouraged the participant beneficiaries to avail the services of the Mini Legal Services Camp and also to visit the Frontal Office located at District Court Complex for any grievances.
Berimong Chang, SDO (C), Dhansiripar, Dimapur in his short speech opined that more awareness of Legal Rights and Legal Justice needs to be mooted to the people and the society at large.
Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, Dimapur DLSA Ajongba Imchen while delivering the vote of thanks stressed on the importance of knowing one’s rights.
Nagaland SLSA theme song was presented by Dimapur DLSA Panel Lawyers. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Zuchumpeni, Panel Lawyer, Dimapur DLSA.
Medical Department organized free medical camp and distributed free medicine while the Statistical Department gave away birth certificates. Labour Department issued forms and assisted beneficiaries under unorganized sectors. Spot legal counseling was made available to the beneficiaries, and Legal pamphlets were distributed to all the beneficiaries. Free affidavits were also made available to the beneficiaries. The camp saw around 500 benefited from the stalls.
