Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted plantation drive at Children’s Home, Peren District.

Peren, December 15 (MExN): Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) conducted various activities on December 15 under Swatchata Pakhwada in Peren District.

As per a press release received here, plantation drive was held at children’s home, Peren under Swatchata Pakhwada. A total of 18 saplings were planted by the children and vowed to take care of them. A lecture was also conducted with emphasis on global warming and reducing green cover in the region. The event ended with light refreshment and interaction with the children.

Another plantation drive was held on December 15 at Yettrang Baptist Academy and Government School, Athibung. In the event, people were educated about the idea of ‘Clean India, Green India.’ The release said people of all ages participated. The troops imbibed in them the idea of taking responsibility of at least one plant.

They were also made aware about ‘Clean India and Green India’ initiative by Government of India. The program ended with healthy conversation about the importance and role of youth in success of such an initiative. The villagers appreciated the efforts of Security Forces for conducting the event and urged for more such events to be planned in future to make a congenial, friendly and clean environment in the region.

In Tening, tree plantation drive was held at Liangmai Baptist High School in Tening Town, Peren District. A total of five staff members and 42 students of along with troops of Jalukie Battalion Assam Rifles carried out plantation of 60 saplings of different varieties. In continuation to the efforts of Jalukie Battalion, the drive was conducted in order to motivate the young students to promote greenery. The drive was aimed to make the people aware about the ways and means to safeguard the environment and promote the cause of clean and green surroundings. The staff and students of Liangmai Baptist high School acknowledged the troops for conducting the drive and hoped for more events in future.
