Assam Rifles conducts various activities across Nagaland

Dimapur, January 15 (MExN): Different battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted various activities in the districts during the past few days.


Mon: As per a press release from PRO, HQ IGAR (N), Mon Battalion conducted weapon display on January 15 for students studying in Mountain School, Chenmoho on the occasion of the 72nd Army Day. As part of the event, various weapons used by the Assam Rifles and Infantry Battalions of the Army were displayed.  Students were also made aware of the various types of entries to join the Indian Armed Forces. 45 students and 10 teachers attended the event.


Wokha: Wokha Battalion felicitated residents of Akuk village, Wokha with a community hall on January 14. The provision was created with an aim to facilitate a platform for conducting various social and cultural meetings in the village. The handing over of the community hall was attended by Village Council members and elders who appreciated the Assam Rifles’ contribution in creating a needed facility. 


Mokokchung: Observing ‘Fitness Week’, Mokokchung Battalion organized a ‘Walkathon’ for troops and residents of Mokokchung town on January 14. Emphasizing on the need for leading a fit and healthy lifestyle and in sync with the ‘Fit India Campaign,’ the event was an endeavor to engage the community to participate in healthy lifestyle practices and the importance of regular physical activity in staying fit and healthy. 


Peren: Jalukie Battalion conducted a lecture on ‘Health and Hygiene’ at Government High School, Athibung on January 13. Its aim was to spread awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation to keep oneself fit and healthy. Students were also informed about the need to handle health related eventualities keeping abreast about administering basic first aid. Students and troops attended the lecture.


Kohima: Kohima Battalion conducted GBs meet at IG stadium on January 10 with an aim to interact with GBs and village elders on various security aspects and upcoming Republic Day event. They were encouraged to keep the youth motivated anticipating the upcoming recruitment drives of Security Forces. 


Zunheboto: Zunheboto Battalion also conducted an Interaction with village functionaries and ESM of Sunrise Colony Akuluto to discuss important issues pertaining to the upcoming Republic Day celebration. 


Dimapur: HQ IGAR (North) felicitated 10 students from Nagaland for an 18-day National Interactive Tour comprising 50 students from across North East to Rajkot, Gujarat. During the tour, the group attended the 22nd Rashtriya Katha Shivir organized at village Pransala in District Rajkot. The students also visited places of cultural and historical significance and important Defence establishments to include Naval station and Indian Coast Guard base, where they enjoyed hovercraft ride. Students also interacted with personalities like governor of Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Justice of Supreme Court of India and senior Army and CAPF Officers.
