Dimapur, June 3 (Mexn): Transporters in Assam have called a 24-hour ‘chakka bandh’ in the entire state on June 4. It was called by the All Assam Motor Transport Association (AAMTA) in protest against alleged inaction of the Assam state government on its demand for hiking fare. As per sources from Guwahati, all commercial vehicles will go off the road during the strike. The strike will take effect from 5:00 am, Monday and continue till 5:00 am, Tuesday. It will be followed by another on June 11. It was informed that the second ‘chakka bandh’ will be of 48 hours and will take effect at 5:00 am, June 11 and remain in effect till 5:00 am, June 13.
