Kohima, March 16 (MExN): The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has notified that the first phase of the “non-local verification drive 2020” will start from March 20 to April 20 at ASU office HQ, Below AIR station, BOC Kohima.
ASU upon renewed stand to tackle the demographic threats will be coordinating the verification drive, as such the Union urged the denizens of Kohima district to strongly partake and support in the exercise, while also citing on stray incidents wherein ILP holders have been hassled in the past by unofficial personnel, a press release from ASU Vice President and ILP Monitoring Cell Convenor Neitseituo Norbert Mere informed.
ASU urged the denizens of the state capital to be watchful and report on such unwarranted confrontation.
The exercise is purposed in thwarting the invasion of illegal immigration towards the state and not discriminating any Indian citizen possessing valid ILP whatsoever through its activities, ASU stated in a press release today.
ASU recommended collaborated assistance from the state government in its initiative, while also inviting the administrative authority to actively converge with any progress in detecting and controlling the perils posed by the influx, the press release read.
“While we foresee inconveniences to many genuine citizens towards affecting this exercise, we urge all citizens to cooperate so as to counter this threat collectively,” ASU stated.
Necessary documents required for this process include; Copy of Inner Line Permit (ILP), Any of the following valid documents (Aadhar Card/Voter ID/NRC Certificates/Pan Card/Driving License), valid trade license, two (2) recent Passport size photos.
Meanwhile, ASU stated that government servants and school teachers are exempted.
