Kohima, August 1 (MExN): The Administrative Training Institute (ATI) Kohima is conducting a mid-career training for 20 officers of the Nagaland Civil Service officers with 5-7 years of work experience. The training started on July 21 and will conclude on August 2.
During interactive sessions with ATI Director General (DG) V Shashank Shekhar, IAS, held on July 31 and August 1, officer trainees were asked to share their experiences, particularly on improving the lives of common people, stated a press release.
“While anyone can list out problems, it is important to suggest solutions,” Shekhar said and mentioned that the core purpose of the civil service is to work for the common man.
The officer trainees proposed some suggestions such as improving connectivity to boost economic activities and employment opportunities; developing a mechanism for timely dissemination of government schemes so that citizens can receive real time support; focus on improving the agriculture sector for economic growth through increased productivity, crop insurance, value addition, and better market linkages; providing occupational skills to the local populace to generate job opportunities and improve livelihood; formulation of an effective policy on human resource management through which recruitment is rationalized and quality capacity building is provide to the workforce; convergence of various departments to facilitate better governance and delivery mechanism; establishment of mini solar grids to improve power supply; improving health infrastructure and provision of adequate healthcare givers for better quality of life. Steps to strengthen and focus on rural areas and how to protect the students and youths from falling prey to substance abuse were also discussed.
The interactive session was also attended by Er N Moa Longkumer, Joint Director, Kaholi Sema, Joint Director, Imlibenla Jamir, Deputy Director, Peter Konyak, Lecturer, and the course coordinator of the training Asalie Lese, Deputy Secretary.
