Kohima, July 27 (MExN): ATMA Botsa Block, Kohima with farmers from Seiyha (Phesa) Village undertook a within district farmers exposure visit to Integrated Farm School, Seiyhama village on July 23.
The purpose of the visit was to enable the farmers to gather more field experiences and learn better farming system, especially on the advantages and benefits of mixed farming system. Farm school teacher Neizonuo Thevo shared her experiences on the importance of integrated farming and the benefits of the modern Cultivation techniques and knowledge she acquired after the ATMA intervention in her farm.
The programme was followed with demonstration on preparation and uses of bordeaux mixture by Neitsizo Zumvu (ATM). Although there are more control measures, the resource person stressed on the uses of Bordeaux mixture for prevention and effective control of fungal and bacterial diseases. Subsequently, method demonstration on preparation of 1% and 10% mixture was made and applied with active participation of the farmers.
Also awareness on organic management practices of pests and diseases by using locally available remedial measures were given due preference. This was followed with plantation of Giloy plant, creating awareness on its benefits and medicinal values was shared by Hainenle Tep (ATM).
The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by the farm school teacher after a brief interactive session and field visit. All the trainees were distributed with copper sulphate, lime, Giloy plant cuttings, cucurbit seeds, roban and neem oil.
