Kohima, July 1 (MExN): Reaffirming their commitments towards the preservation and protection of natural bio-diversity and its flora and fauna, the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) said, “It is our sincere resolve to do the best we can to assist and contribute towards this endeavour.”
The AYO in a press release issued by President Kekhrie Pfukha and Secretary, Environment, Neiba Bio has sought cooperation from everyone to play an effective role in this initiative.
Reiterating the June 16, 2017 AYO Presidential Council Resolution comprising of all range and villages at Kisama and as per standing Government orders, the AYO has reproduced the resolution and informing the public to this effect and in addition, certain conditions are also added which shall be implemented effective immediately.
• Jungle burning and deforestation shall be strictly prohibited.
• Usage of air gun shall be banned and sale of pellets are totally discouraged.
• Stone crushers, quarries, car wash and vehicle repair workshop are advised to maintain maximum distance from the main highway and roads.
• Relaxation of hunting period is strictly a prerogative of the concern village and youth organizations in the event of any life threatening and livelihood matters. However, it is to be noted that this season is the most crucial period for wild animals and plants.
• Defaulters shall be sternly penalised and penalisation shall be effected by the concern unit or range youth organisations.
• The resolution shall be implemented in every Angami area/jurisdiction.
