Around 3000 individuals have benefited its health scheme which provides insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year but awareness still remains low

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 17 (MExN): As Ayushman Bharat or Healthy India, a Government of India flagship programme on health completes one year, around 3000 patients from Nagaland state have already availed benefits worth Rs 4.7 crore under one of its pillars- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Two lakh e-cards have also been generated.

In a press statement, Dr. Kikameren Longkumer, State Nodal Officer, AB-PMJAY, Nagaland informed that the State has a target of 2.3 lakhs beneficiary families in the State. PMJAY provides insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year. The scheme provides cover for hospitalized care including some day care procedures with a total of 1534 treatment packages.

With the e-card, the beneficiary can avail treatment from any empanelled government or private hospital across the country. More than 100 patients from Nagaland have already availed benefit from outside the State amounting to Rs. 21.6 lakhs.

Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) has treated the highest number of patients with 623 pre-authorizations as on September 17. CIHSR Dimapur is next with 538, followed by Faith Hospital (416).

However, Dr Kikameren stated that awareness still remains low and there is still a lot of ground to cover. He informed that till September 15, only 28% of the targeted 2.3 lakhs families are covered with PMJAY e-card being issued in Nagaland.

A walkathon will be held in each of the district headquarters, which is jointly organized by the Departments of Health and Family Welfare, Social Welfare, Urban Development, and Municipal Affairs. Kiphire, Kohima, Peren, Tuensang, and Zunheboto will hold the program on September 19, Dimapur and Phek on September 23, Longleng and Wokha on September 27, Mon on September 24. Date is yet to be decided for Mokokchung District.

Launching programme will be held at the end of the walkathon, which will be followed by beneficiary identification and verification drive for processing e-cards for PMJAY beneficiaries.
