MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today inaugurated Lasumi Council Hall at Lasumi village under Phek district.

This was constructed under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) 2017-18.

Speaking on the occasion, Azo expressed happiness over the judicious use of funds, adding that it would go a long way to serve well its purpose.

He remarked that Lasumi council hall is one of the best council halls in the state.

Lauding the village authority for making the best use of funds, he also called upon them to continue to maintain unity and integrity for all round development.

Azo was optimistic that the newly constructed hall will bring people closer and strengthen unity and integrity.

Keyirangding Hegui, project director DRDA Phek in his speech expressed satisfaction with the quality of work.

This was possible due to proper utilization of funds, he said.   He also called upon the villagers to extend their cooperation to the government in order to avail further developmental packages in the coming days.

Also speaking on the occasion, Muzivolii T Therieh, member secretary Nagaland State Legal Service Authority encouraged the village authority to use the Hall as a place for justice and equality accessible to both men and women so that goodwill prevails.

She said villages in Nagaland are like a mini state as all the Legislative, executive and judicial powers are given to them by the Village Council Act.

She said the village authorities must use their powers wisely and for the benefit of villagers.

“Village administration is an auxiliary of the district administration so they have a huge responsibility to perform,” she said.

Earlier, Rev Dr Dingu Kenye, pastor Lasumi Baptist Church pronounced dedicatory prayer.

The function was chaired by Neiziilo Therie while Lasumi village council chairman Lonyichii Pradia delivered welcome address.
