Dimapur, December 21 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) along with District Anti-Tobacco Squad raided shops selling banned tobacco and other related products. 

In a press note, Media Cell DNSU stated that the seized tobacco products worth around 1.5 lakhs were burnt. 

The seized tobacco products were disposed and burnt in the presence of, GV Angami, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) HQ, Dimapur and Team Leader of District Anti-Tobacco Squad (DATS) and DNSU Officials at DMC Dumping Site, Sunrise Colony, Burma Camp on December 21.

District Anti-Tobacco Squad and DNSU have earnestly urged all chairmen and various leaders of villages, colonies and concerned citizens to extend its fullest cooperation in enforcing COTPA Act 2003.

“The sale of tobacco products is strictly prohibited to persons below the age of 18 years and in places within 100 yards radius (300 feet) from the outer boundary of an institution of Education which includes schools, colleges, institutions of Higher learning and reminded the shop owners to be vigilant and adhere or to face dire consequences as prescribed by law,” the press release stated.
