Dimapur, May 24 (MExN): The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) on Monday raised concerns over the “lack of basic facilities for the healthcare workers” at Niuland and Kuhuboto health centres under Dimapur district. It also called on the authorities to provide better facilities.
In a press release, the WSYF stated that “there is no supply of facemasks, faceshields, gloves, sanitizers, PPEs and adequate oxygen,” in the two health centres. “It is learnt that Niuland has only three oxygen cylinders while Kuhuboto has only two, which are both in use,” it said, while appealing establishment of the Dimapur Chief Medical Officer and the District Task Force for COVID-19 to provide better facilities at the two health centres.
The WSYF also acknowledged the state’s frontline workers for their tireless service, the state government for announcing additional incentives for the healthcare workers, and Nodal Officer for Dimapur’s COVID-19 response Y Kikheto Sema and his team for visiting Niuland and taking stock of the health facilities. “As the Nodal Officer has seen the pitiable state of the health centre, the WSYF also appeals him to intervene and deliver necessary facilities to Niuland and Kuhuboto,” the release stated, while adding that the WSYF is ‘ever ready’ to assist Team Dimapur in all possible ways as and when needed.
