Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): The Baptist Theological College (BTC) celebrated its Cultural Day on December 10, 2011 under the theme “Significance of Tribal Ethics in Contemporary Society”. The College is committed to preserve and promote liberative cultural values of different communities existing together.
BTC celebrates 22nd Cultural DayNeiba Kronu, Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, Government of Nagaland and his lady wife graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Neiba Kronu spoke on the given theme that the tribals were governed by three simple ethics- Fear, shame and taboo. “Stealing, telling lies, unfaithfulness and laziness are not the culture of the tribal’s. The tribal are known for their simplicity, honesty, sincerity and brevity,” he said. He encouraged theological community to promote good cultural values and be agent of change in our society today.
The Cultural Day competition prizes were bagged by the followings tribes in different items. Cultural Dance: 1st Position- Mizo/Chin, 2nd Position–Phom, 3rd Position- Chakhesang. In Folk Song: 1st Position- Ao, 2nd Position- Rengma, 3rd Position- Assamese, Arunachali and Nepali. In cooking special dish Lotha backed the first position. In Handicraft Competition, among men Krievotuo got first position, Thepuvovoi got second position and Vesakho got third position. Among the ladies Vehunulu Lohe and Kushelu got first position, Vezulu got second position and Anandi got third position. The students are so talented in making handicrafts and all the invitees were so much impressed by seeing the works of the students.
