‘Be human beings first and recognise skills'

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): Promotional Consultation Interface Workshop with Stakeholders in Northeast and West Bengal was held, today, September 2 at DAN Training Centre, Dimapur. 

A press note stated that altogether 53 participants from Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, Tripura and West Bengal attended the workshop. Chinmayee Subhash welcomed the participants. Regional Director DGET,MoLE, Govt. Of India, Kolkata , S J Amalan was the chief guest.  

The note said that in his inaugural address, the chief guest appealed the gathering to be human beings first and to recognise skills with equal respect. Amalan in his address explained the difficulties for youth to get into skill training today. He extended his support to the partners to develop skills among youth to transform into employability.

Moreover, Executive Director of FVTRS Bangalore, Albert Joseph in his welcome address explained the core objective of the organisation and purpose of the workshop. He added focus of FVTRS in north east India during the forthcoming operational years through partnership with potential partners in six states in 22 selected BRGF districts to improve skill enhancement and better employability opportunities for the school dropout youth, it said. Meanwhile, The afternoon session was lead by panellist members - Managing Director of The Morung Express Akum Longchari, Parish Priest Holy Cross Church Fr. Chacko, Director of Prodigals Home Ela and General Manager NABARD Dr U S Saha. Panel members discussed on prospects of skill training in the north east. 

The next two days will be a workshop on Skill Training Needs Analysis to be held at the same venue, the press note informed.
