Dimapur | July 3 : MLA and advisor, sericulture and co-operation, Azheto Zhimomi on Sunday asked the newly elected office bearers and executive members of the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) to be responsible as they have been chosen to be responsible leaders.
Addressing a gathering at Ana-Ki Complex after inaugurating the DCCI office, Azheto asked the DCCI to function without harassing the public and the business community and work in close co-ordination with the DMC. He also asked the DCCI to think of ways on how to help and protect the traders adding, “it should be your aim and objective.” Further, Azheto also said that the DCCI should not spare any of its members who indulge in corrupt activities and drop them from the organization if found acting irresponsibly.
DCCI president, Hokivi Chishi assured the citizens of Dimapur that he would shoulder his responsibility with “respect and transparency.” He said that the main aim of the DCCI was to strengthen and further the interest of the business community to ensure that the balance of relation with the public was maintained consistently. The DCCI president also encouraged the young local entrepreneurs to come forward and make their mark in the field of trade and commerce. Hokivi further announced the opening of Public Grievances Cell keeping in mind the vulnerability and unwanted situations faced by the business community.
The DCCI also acknowledged the SP Dimapur for providing cooperation and assistance.
Former chief minister and MLA, K. L. Chishi said that the business community must encourage the local producers and also urged the DCCI to look into the setting up of industries in Dimapur. He called upon the DCCI to always keep in mind the welfare of the consumers while fixing rate for various commodities.
Congress MLA, Y. Hewoto Awomi also encouraged the DCCI members to be sincere in discharging their duties.
Stating that the health of a city or country was measured by its economy, Naga Council Dimapur president, Savi Liegise said that the DCCI will similarly determine health of Dimapur.
DMC chief advisor, K. Keditsu in his speech said that the DMC and DCCI should work hand in hand.
The programme was chaired by DCCI vice president Khegholi Awomi and attended by representatives of various business organizations. Associate Pastor, Rev Chumben invoked God’s blessing during the programme while DCCI vice president Baljit Singh proposed the vote of thanks.
